PERJALANAN REMPAH-REMPAH KE NUSANTARA: JEJAK SEJARAH PERDAGANGAN REMPAH BARUS DAN ACEH
Keywords:
traces of the history of the barus spice journeyAbstract
In the narrative of Indonesian History, it is written that the arrival of foreign/European nations, especially to the Archipelago, was based on "Gold, Glory and Gospel". This is interpreted as the search by European nations for natural resources in the archipelago, then colonizing or controlling the archipelago and followed by the spread of Christianity by missionaries. The spice route is one of Indonesia's maritime phenomena. The study uses a library research method by collecting data from various literature such as books, journals, and previous research, which are then analyzed critically and in depth. One of the main focuses is the relationship between Aceh and Barus in terms of history, spices, and religion, as well as the strong influence of the Aceh Sultanate before being controlled by the Dutch. Barus remains an important area in the Nusantara spice route, with Islamic traditions still strong in its society. This study also reveals the historical relevance between Aceh and Barus which is starting to be forgotten.
